Guide for Women
Use a soft measuring tape and take your measurements in "inches". Remember to stand straight when measuring yourself as the posture will affect the measurements. Do not make the measurements too tight. You can do this by keeping your thumb/finger between your body and the measuring tape. Also keep the measuring tape parallel to the floor when you are standing upright at all times when measuring. After each measurement, write it down so you do not forget it.
A – Shoulder
Stand with your back straight and your shoulders relaxed. Then extend the measuring tape across your back from the outer edge of one shoulder to the outer edge of the other shoulder, as indicated in the diagram.
B – Bust
This is the fullest part of your bust. Wrap the measuring tape around your back, under your arms and across the fullest part of your bust. Bring the ends of the tape together in the centre front and remember to keep your thumb/finger between your body and the measuring tape to allow for some room.
C – Waist
This is the smallest part of your waist and is usually located between your rib cage and your belly button. Another way to find where your waist is, is to bend forward or to the side and see where your belly creases. Assume a comfortable standing position and do not suck your stomach in. Wrap the measuring tape around your waist and remember to keep your thumb/finger between your body and the measuring tape.
D – Hips
This is the fullest part of your hips and buttocks when you stand straight with your feet together and legs straight. Wrap the measuring tape around your buttocks and the fullest part of your hips; then bring the measuring tape together in the centre front. Remember to keep your thumb/finger between your body and the measuring tape.
E – Above Bust
Wrap the measuring tape around your back, under your arms and across your chest. Make sure the measuring tape is sitting above your bust. Bring the ends of the tape together in the centre front and remember to keep your thumb/finger between your body and the measuring tape to allow for some room.
F – Below bust
Wrap the measuring tape around your back, under your bust and across your ribs Bring the ends of the tape together in the centre front and remember to keep your thumb/finger between your body and the measuring tape to allow for some room.
G – Top bodice
Stand straight and hold the end of the measuring tape at the top centre of your shoulder. Extend the measuring tape along the front of your body and over the fullest part of your bust, right down to your waist (refer to C).
H – Full length
Take off your shoes then stand straight, with your feet flat on the ground, and hold the end of the measuring tape at the top centre of your shoulder. Let the measuring tape fall perpendicular to the ground and extend the measuring tape along the front of your body and over the fullest part of your bust, right down to the floor.
