Who We Are

GerZam was founded with the aim of bringing together two cultures and breaking barriers across the international retail market. GerZam's first project is the launch of the Mwaka's Magic Touch (MMT) clothing line which promotes Zambian culture through fashion, by producing a mix of Afrocentric and trend setting designs.

Mwaka is both a designer and tailor. In order to honour Mwaka's talents and promote her stunning clothing line, GerZam decided to relaunch Mwaka's Magic Touch on a global scale so the whole world can experience Mwaka's style and creativity. GerZam would also like to give consumers around the world the opportunity to design their ideal clothes in the comfort of their own homes and have them custom made by Mwaka and her experienced crew – most of which she has trained herself.

 This exciting opportunity to have custom made clothes will enable consumers to look and feel their best in their own designs or in outfits inspired from elsewhere which are brought to life and custom made for them.

Why are Chitenges so amazing?

1. The beautiful vibrant colors of the print. 

2. The fabric is light and cool for hot climates but can also be lined to make it warm enough for cooler climates.  

3. The Chitenges are versatile because they can be used to make tailored outfits, which can sometimes be combined with contrasting fabrics or it can just be a two metre piece of cloth worn as a sarong.  

A Chitenge can also be used as a bed sheet, table cloth, mat, wall decoration, as a sling to carry a baby and much more. The printing on the Chitenges is done by a traditional batik technique, which is a manual wax-resist dyeing technique.
